Grant of $18,000 will extend efforts to save more animal lives in Northern Colorado

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Animal Friends Alliance announced it has been awarded an $18,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to fund medical care and pre-adoption expenses for dogs and cats in its shelter.

“Every animal deserves the opportunity to find a loving home, and we are extremely grateful to the Petco Foundation for their support of our mission,” said Sarah Swanty, executive director of Animal Friends Alliance. “This grant will allow us to save more lives and bring together more happy families.”

This grant investment is part of the Petco Foundation’s recent distribution of more than $13M to animal welfare organizations nationwide. In addition, the Petco Foundation distributed $1M in emergency product and cash donations to partner organizations facing the challenges of the COVID-19 crisis and put out a national call to mobilize animal lovers to take action and Pledge to Save Pet Lives

Animal Friends Alliance is a limited-admission, adoption-guarantee shelter and subsidized spay/neuter clinic dedicated to finding loving homes for cats and dogs and providing support to families to keep pets in their homes. Since 2006, Animal Friends Alliance has found homes for more than 28,000 cats and dogs and performed over 64,600 spay/neuter surgeries.

The Petco Foundation recognized Animal Friends Alliance’s success in its mission to save pets’ lives at a stakeholder and media investment celebration at Petco Fort Collins (2211 S College Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80525) on September 28, 2020.
