Larimer Humane Society, Animal Friends Alliance, and Big Bones Canine Rescue partner with Poudre Pet & Feed Supply on April 9th for a community event featuring freebies and adoptable animals
Fort Collins, Colo. (March 9, 2022) – Three local animal welfare organizations—Larimer Humane Society, Animal Friends Alliance, and Big Bones Canine Rescue—will unite on Saturday, April 9, to celebrate National Pet Day – Pet Pawty, hosted by Poudre Pet & Feed Supply. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Poudre Pet & Feed Supply’s north location (622 N. College Ave., Fort Collins) and will feature adoptable animals, multiple vendors with free pet food and treat samples, yard games, food trucks and K-9 demonstrations.
Healthy cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies of virtually every size, breed and personality from the three organizations will be available for adoption, many at special discounted rates. All dog and cat adoptions include age-appropriate vaccines, treatment for internal parasites, spay or neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and a post-adoption medical exam generously provided by a local veterinarian. Licensing fees may apply.
Pet-friendly vendors will be on site supporting the organizations and offering free product samples including Nutri Source, Midwestern Pet Foods, Redbarn, and many more. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit also will hold demonstrations. To raise funds for the participating rescues, attendees will be encouraged to enter opportunity drawings for a variety of pet-themed packages. Visitors can also get a bite to eat from on-site food trucks – Bright Side Coffee Co. and Charlotte’s Lil Kitchen!
The Pet Pawty is designed with the intent of saving more animals’ lives through collaboration, bringing together Northern Colorado animal lovers for a community celebration of National Pet Day.
“Coming together as a community not only helps more animals find loving homes, it’s a great opportunity for education” said Sarah Swanty, executive director of Animal Friends Alliance. “We’re looking forward to celebrating National Pet Day by uniting pet families and providing information on how to keep their pets happy and healthy.”
“We are fortunate to live and work in a community that is not only pet-friendly, but has so many amazing organizations all working towards the same goal,” said Judy Calhoun, executive director of Larimer Humane Society. “Together we are working to make Northern Colorado a great place for pets, starting with finding loving new homes for animals in need through events like Poudre Pet & Feed Supply’s Pet Pawty.”
Together, Larimer Humane Society, Animal Friends Alliance, and Big Bones Canine Rescue found loving homes for 7,420 homeless dogs and cats in the last year. Like all animal welfare organizations around the country, the shelters and rescues in Larimer and Weld counties all have dozens of cats, dogs, puppies and kittens at their facilities or in foster homes year round, all looking for new families.
Empowered to find a solution for pets entering animal shelters and rescues each year, animal welfare organizations across the country are collaborating on joint adoption events, educational programming and spay/neuter options.
